There’s a lot of confusion about divination and tarot cards, astrology and numerology. As a Christian, I do not want to do anything that God does not condone.
However, I was absolutely alarmed when one definition of divination included intuition. Why? Because when Jesus left the Earth, he sent us the Holy Spirit and it is through prayer and our intuition that we connect with the Holy Spirit.
God also gave us spiritual skills and yet if we subscribe to what most are saying about divination, we would not use these skills. 1 Corinthians 12:1-11 says, “Now about the gifts of the Spirit, brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be uninformed. You know that when you were pagans, somehow or other you were influenced and led astray to mute idols. Therefore I want you to know that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus be cursed,” and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit. There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work. Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.”
So what is the concern? Basically if the message does not come from God, it is not of God and is, therefore, condemned. Praying to other Gods, fortune telling, occult and trying to manipulate the future are the forms of divination that God does not condone.
It is very important to ‘test’ what is said by referring to your own means of research including the bible. Deuteronomy 18:21-22 says, “You may say to yourselves, “How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the LORD?” If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the LORD does not take place or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously, so do not be alarmed.”
Just as there is light, there is dark … just as there is God’s Angels, there is Satan’s Angels. So we must be careful who we channel for guidance. Always ask God in Jesus of Nazareth’s name to direct his Archangels Michael, Gabriel, Raphael and Uriel to provide guidance.
In conclusion, the divination that God prohibits is that which is derived from Satan and his Angels or dead people and used to alter or manipulate future events. Only God determines the future of the universe and he can change it at will.
As the bible provides us with guidance for how to behave and believe, it doesn’t always provide answers to our individual life situations. And God provided his Angels to help us and empower us to follow God’s divine will for our lives.
If not for our spiritual gifts, how then would we know when we are on or off track? Not using the tools and skills that God provides us with, renders us powerless and unable to follow divine guidance, and is just another form of ‘controlling the masses’.
